Wingate -- H.I. "Pete" Gilkey, 77, a lifetime Wingate resident, died at 1:25 p.m. Thursday in Comfort Nuring Home at Lafayette where he had been a patient 3 months. He was born May 9, 1892 at Wingate, a son of Squire M. and May Ives Gilkey. He was married Feb 3, 1923 to Mildred Martin at Veedersburg. He was a member of the WIngate town board for 16 years, and farmed near Wingate all of his life. He attended Wingate HS and Methodist Church at Wingate. Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, John M. and Martha Gilkey of Dayton, Ohio; two grandchildren, Gregg and Terri of Dayton, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. John Maddux of West Lafayette and a nephew, Richard Maddux of near New Richmond. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Servies-Thomas Funeral Home near Waynetown with Rev. Jean McCan officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Saturday.

Wingate - H. I. (Pete) Gilkey, age 76, of Wingate, died at 1:25 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in the Comfort Nursing Home in Lafayette. Mr. Gilkey was born May 9, 1892, at Wingate, the son of squire and May Ives Gilkey. He was married to Mildred Martin of Veedersburg and she survives. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are; on son, John M. Gilkey of Dayton, Ohio, two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lyman Maddux of West Lafayette and one nephew. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Servies-Thomas funeral Home in Waynetown. The Rev. Jean McCann officiated and burial was in the Greenlawn Cemetery at Wingate.
